Awesome Origami

A quick note: We’ve recently added some more packaged teas for those who like to get a package of tea in our shop. Also we have some new Harney iced tea ‘brew at home’ bags so you can make your own jug of iced tea at home. Those are $7.99 for six large brew bags in a nice gift tin, or two for $15. That way you can drink iced tea all month for the price of three large cafe drinks. Do it!!

This is our customer Uyen. She shares a name with one of our owners and a love of origami with all of us. The only difference is the level of enthusiasm Uyen brings to origami, and her origami vocabulary level which is seriously out of control. Uyen often drinks a special off menu drink creation we jokingly call “Majestic phoenix” which is light, minty, herbal, sweet and refreshing. Lately she has been hanging around the offices of creased magazine, an origami magazine. We are lucky to have many colorful characters who regularly get a package of tea in our shop or a drink. We’re glad to have Uyen as one of them. She made us a brilliant modular origami piece for our shelves recently. It’s pictured here next to Harney and sons chai rooibos by the package. By the way you can also check out creased magazine on facebook here. Thank you for reading.

On a separate note our blog has been down recently. Our blog is now back up and domain should be repaired shortly. See you here and in the shop soon.

Also enjoy a nice song if you’d like.

Google Offers Rocks!

Photo

!Google contacted us recently to help us get a new flood of tea loving customers so we can meet them by participating in their new Google Offers program. It’s amazing with smart phones and the internet how quickly everyone can now find new stores that align with their interests such as us. We got to run our store promotion on their site for an entire day! Elie saw our google offer and snagged up an offer code to come check out our store with his tea loving wife Melissa. They picked up some matcha powder and some bubble teas and are now our happy customers. It’s definitely no surprise to us that the more often we meet tea lovers, that many of them are often into health be it raw food, gyrotonics, yoga, or more broadly just exercise and healthy eating. Melissa herself has a yoga business which you can check out @ http:www.Smarterbodies.com

Her and her husband are pictured here. Have a great day everyone, thanks for reading. 🙂

Fall is arriving…

If you're in the mood for something new at home we just got in some new white packaged teas. White Lavender, Raspberry White, and White Peony (Serendipitea Loose Boxes), Ginger Peach, Jasmine, Vanilla Coconut (Republic of Tea tea bags) and Mutan White, and White Earl Grey (Harney Sachets).

In other news our amazing customer Ruby (pictured) has opened an online store selling vintage plastics and clothing accessories from the 1920's-1950's. If you enjoy the site you can check back frequently for new items but act fast on snagging anything you like because the quantities are generally very limited, sometimes only one piece.

That's it for this blog. If you're in the mood for an upbeat song enjoy a jam from New York band Ratatat

Rachel Mercier & her sweet stationary shop called “Mercier Beaucoup”

We know we've probably said this a hundred times before, but we LOVE our customers!! And we also love learning about all the creative things that they do. 🙂

For instance, we just learned that one of our neighbor Rachel Mercier curates a super cute online stationary shop called "Mercier Beaucoup". (What an absolute adorable name!) Rachel loves stationary so much that she has kept every single handwritten notes that she had ever received (including one from her fiance in 7th grade). Now that's what we call passion! And now, lucky for us, she is sharing her passion through her online store. Way to go, Rachel! 🙂

Cool pink hair!

Photo

We had some cool customers in over the weekend, among them were Stephanie and Karl. Stephanie had hair to match our lights and chairs. It's not everyday that you see someone with pink hair (and pink hair that looks awesome at that) but Stephanie pulls it off. Different people blend in visually with different environments, Stephanie blends in here pretty well. One of the great things about being in New York, and particularly the East Village is being able to see every color and shape of person under the sun. It makes our day very enjoyable, and we like posting a few pics of our cool customers when we have time.

Dave’s awesome shirt

Photo

We had to compliment our customer Dave on his hilarious shirt. He said not many people have gotten the humor of it, but we beg to differ. Dave gets a large chai with tapioca. We say keep up the good work.

A sweet story

Photo

Last year at this time our long time bubble tea loving customer Chris proposed to his girlfriend Kristi via our storefront window, she said yes and now they're happily married. In the meantime they moved to Colorado, but came back to pay us a visit. Chris had us put up another message, this time for their 1 year anniversary. We'll never forget her face when she saw the window the first time. He distracted her as they were walking in, and then walked her out, and turned directly to the front of the store where the message was. Tears were shed, and yeses were said. It's moments like that, which make it amazing to run a small business and have great regulars whose lives you can participate in. By the way Chris likes Mixed Berry fruit bubble tea, and Kristi likes Passion Orange Guava.

Enjoy this great song by Koop. Nice wacky video too, in no way meant to resemble the aforementioned couple although the song itself is about love and is beautiful.
